The robin chicks are growing apace.....

Now the little sweet peas look more like birds and here they are having a relaxing moment in between snacks from Mum and Dad....I am glad they are quite well camouflaged in their nest and no-one, other than me, seems to be bothering them!!

It looks pretty crowded in that nest. I guess it's time to fly when they can't all fit in anymore.

So lovely to see a successful hatching. Two robins built a nest in the forsythia bush outside our kitchen window this spring. We watched the construction, the fluffing and lining process and the settling in to hatch. And then one sunny morning a third robin arrived and tried to join the nest. There was a brief, fierce airial battle, a fluster of feathers and fluff, and the nest and eggs were abandoned. Nature isn't always kind.

Aw they are preciously gawky & cute. I've a bunch of Indian tailor birds hatching in my front yard...& I shared the pics on Twitter. As someone said they are very cute but freakish! 3 have hatched & one to go...remarkable. Are you on twitter?
